Where we stand: the two- or three-piece outfit rather than the dress. It dresses you just as well, it is far more comfortable over a full day, and every piece can be worn again separately — which an occasion dress never allows. A guest or the mother of the bride will find a complete look here.

Satin crepes, stretch twills, lace and twill drapes: fabrics that hold their line all day, don't crease and machine wash.
